James' father was a doctor also. James lived at the corner of Hix Bridge Road and Drift Road with his wife Hope & other family members. He died on May 15, 1868 at the age of 75. Information from Andrew Macomber and Richard Wertz. "Westporters and the Civil War.", typed and printed manuscript.
James served in the War of 1812 in Captain Jonathan Davis' Co., Lt. Colonel Benjamin Lincoln's Regiment along with 93 other privates. The Company was raised at Westport; Service at Westport.
