Charles A. Burt enlisted in the Civil War in 1861. He died in the War of disease on September 24, 1863 and was buried in Berwick City, LA. Sources: Ancestry.com, CivilWarData.com, National Archives pension records and other military historical records. "Return of a Death" records state he died in New Orleans at age 24 years, 7 months and 24 days. He was a sailor. He died of chronic diarrhea. His father was John Burt, born in Tiverton and his mother was Rhoda Burt of Westport. He was single and resided in Westport.
