He married Deborah Dudley Allen, daughter of Green and Phebe Allen on March 5, 1843. Captain & wife have separate marble stones on one granite base. Capt. Kirby died of Cholera aboard the Falcon on a voyage from Chagres to Havana and was buried at Chagres, Panama. A whaling ship with a crew of 27 under Captain Kirby's command, the Falcon left New Bedford in 1846 and sailed the Pacific for three years, returning in 1849.
