Stone was toppled off its base. Stone was cleaned and reattached to a leveled base in July 2021. Name: Abby Chester (Lawton) Davis. Daughter of Abram C. and Mary E. (Tripp) Lawton. Zebedee Davis, the son of Edmund Davis and Abby Tripp was born in 1842 and had a long career as a Butcher in Westport. In 1870 at the age of 27 he married 18-year-old Abby Chester Lawton the daughter of Abram and Mary Lawton. They quickly welcomed three sons, two of them, Abner Chester and Charles, died at six months of cholera and brain fever. The zinc monument honoring “Our Chessey and Our Charley” was also carefully repositioned during the workshop. Just a year later on Christmas eve Abby died at age 24 of complications from the birth of her daughter Abby. Two years later, Zebedee married Almy Brownell the daughter of Ezra Brownell and Ann Allen who immediately became mother to Albert and little Abby. Zebedee and Almy went on to have six children of their own, four of them were buried in the family plot. They lost two young daughters, Annie at age 2 died of typhoid fever and Lizzie died of tuberculosis at age five. Almy died of breast cancer in 1905 and is buried next to Abby. Zebedee lived to be almost 70 and is buried between Abby and his infant sons. Research: L. Oliveira
