G.R. 64. -gravestone record, White private lot, Charlotte White Road, Westport Vital Records to 1850. Charlotte White and her mother, Elizabeth, are known to be buried here along with two other unmarked grav es. . It is believed that Zip White, Charlotte's father is also buried here.The road in Westport is named after this native American woman
Deed, March 28, 1874 recorded May 29, 1915, Book 422, p. 327 at the Registry of Deeds, New Bedford, Ma. This deed is for the 10 acre farm which was given under the 1762 will of George White to his former slave Zip White, the husband of Elizabeth David White and father of Charlotte (who never married) and Jane White (who married John Cuffe, brother of Paul Cuffe.) The cemetery referred to is where Charlotte & Elizabeth White are buried. Samuel Cuffe moved here after the east part of the Cuff Slocum farm was foreclosed upon by Abner B. Gifford. The road that leads from Tillinghast Kirby's (SW corner of Charlotte White and Main) to George F. Wood's (SE corner of Charlotte White and Sodom) is Charlotte White Road.
